The ideal power source for Race-Keeper is a constant 12v.

Because it's often useful (and sometimes critical) to capture video before your vehicle starts and after it stops when back in the pits, try to connect to a non-switched 12v power source - direct to the vehicle battery works best but an on-board power outlet/cigarette lighter socket will also ensure you can capture as much of the action as you want.

If you connect to a switched power source (e.g., a cig lighter that is powered only when the vehicle is on), you will have to wait for the system to power up (about 30 seconds) or if you're recording and you crank the engine, which temporarily drains the 12v charge, your recording may stop.
